Brian Farley, Acadia Healthcare’s general counsel since July 2023, leads the company’s legal operations and serves as a key strategic advisor to the executive team and Board of Directors. Entrusted with oversight of a team of attorneys, he manages securities law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, litigation, labor and employment, compliance and regulatory matters.
Farley’s arrival at Acadia Healthcare brought extensive experience from high-growth, regulated firms. He previously served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at GoHealth, where he directed legal, regulatory, compliance, SEC, government affairs and cybersecurity functions and played a central role in the company’s initial public offering in 2020. That IPO experience and hands-on exposure to complex regulatory environments are among the attributes he now applies to Acadia’s legal strategy.
Before GoHealth, Farley held senior leadership positions at Allscripts, where he served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer. His background also includes significant legal roles at Motorola Mobility and Level 3 Communications, with early career experience at firms such as Rhythms NetConnections, e.spire Communications and Collins, Shannon, Rill & Scott. These diverse assignments provided Farley with deep exposure to commercial law, corporate governance and regulatory challenges across technology and healthcare markets.
At Acadia, Farley’s remit extends beyond traditional in-house counsel duties. He is charged with aligning legal risk management with corporate objectives, advising on transactional and regulatory strategy, and steering internal compliance programs. His portfolio of responsibilities positions him as a central figure in supporting the company’s growth initiatives and operational resilience.
Farley’s academic credentials include a JD from The George Washington University Law School, an MBA from the University of Colorado, and a BA in Political Economics from Colorado College. Those qualifications, coupled with a career spanning public offerings, global transactions and regulatory affairs, inform his approach to legal leadership.
As Acadia Healthcare navigates a dynamic regulatory landscape, industry observers say leadership with a blend of transactional, compliance and governance experience will be vital. Under Farley’s stewardship, the company’s legal function appears focused on both mitigating risk and enabling strategic opportunities.
