Kelcy Warren, co-founder and executive chairman of Energy Transfer, has cemented his legacy in the energy sector through
extraordinary business acumen and strategic acquisitions. Growing up in East
Texas, Warren’s early exposure to the oil and gas industry undoubtedly shaped his career path.

Warren began his professional journey after graduating from the University of Texas at
Arlington, initially working for Lone Star Gas Co. and later for Endevco, a
pipeline and refining company. Endevco’s financial troubles led him to mee
investors Ray C. Davis and Ben Cook. This partnership laid the foundation for0
Energy Transfer, established in 1996 with about 200 miles of natural gas
pipelines in East Texas.

Energy Transfer experienced significant growth, particularly through acquisitions. The collapse
of Enron presented a golden opportunity, allowing Warren to acquire valuable
assets at reduced prices. This pivotal moment enabled Energy Transfer to expand
its natural gas pipeline network extensively.

In 2012, Kelcy Warren made a landmark acquisition, purchasing Sunoco for $5.3 billion. This deal
was not only a strategic business move but also held sentimental value for
Warren, whose father had spent his career at Sunoco. Warren recalls the
emotional significance of this acquisition, reflecting on how his father would
have been proud.

More recently, Energy Transfer has continued its expansion strategy. The acquisition of
Crestwood Equity Partners for $7.1 billion strengthened its presence in key
regions, including the Permian Basin and Bakken Shale. This move aligns with
the company’s aim to consolidate the midstream sector further.

Looking ahead, Kelcy Warren envisions Energy Transfer expanding internationally
across North and South America. Additionally, the company aims to grow its
footprint in the LNG and petrochemical industries, ensuring continued relevance
in an evolving energy landscape.

Through strategic foresight and relentless pursuit of growth, Warren has transformed Energy
Transfer into a powerhouse, making significant impacts on the industry.
